BitDefender total Security 2008?

I paid for and downloaded BD 2008 and when i was installing it I got a message that said it wasn't XP Logo Compatible..and if choose to continue it could make my comp malfunction...well I stopped the install and went back to the website and read about it and it says that it is XP compatible so I went ahead and did the install again and just ok'd it when that message came up again...well now my damn computer is SOOOO SLOW!! and I called BD people and they really weren't that big of a help...any suggestions???

If you recently purchase Bitdefender 2008, then ask them to change it to an ordinary AV not the entire security suite. You could upgrade your ram, but thats another issue, if your ram is only 512mb then you should upgrade. I have tested before Bitdefnder on a 4Gig machine, it still crawls the system down.

There are lots of Antivirus (AVG, Kaspersky, Nod32, Drweb, Fprot etc, the said ones here are light on cpu resources.),which you may use to test its performance, before purchasing it, so you can make proper choice before purchasing it.

i found that bitdefender will slow ur pc down and i have norton which is a hog ---- but i dont get infected ---- am switching to nod32 full program when norton runs out
Bitdefender is really nice for finding infections, but its slow. Use sophos they have research labs for viruses and have detection rules for almost every windows virus.
It is a good security, but it doesn't care about your computer.If you open Task Manager , maybe you will see that BD application will be the highest CPU Usage or Memory Usage. If svchost.exe is the highest CPU usage you have to turn off Automatic Update so your computer will run smoothly. I recommend Kaspersky Internet Security. The BEST !!! xD

If your computer is slow do not install it in realtime security mode. Install it in typical settings.

I have 2.8 Daul core with 512MB of ram

Bitdefender works perfect on my computer its not slow

or another antivirus is recomended
