I've gotten kind of scared to play a
music CD in my computer, because
of all the scare stories about Rootkits and
DRM software/malware.
Need I be worried?
How can you tell if the CD is
infecting the computer with a Rootkit?
If it can't be detected, and it does, how
damaging is the Rootkit?
Thanks.
Does anyone know about Music CD security?spyware remover
Sony CD's from several years ago were the only COMMERCIAL CD's that had a rootkit issue. The problem was resolved. If you think you may still have one, go to the Sony web-site and check.
Of course, homemade CD's, especially ones that are using stolen material from Limewire or Bit Torrent are an entirely different matter. They are often infected with all sorts of malware.
