Im doing this for a friend. Has a small business he has the cameras setup already around the building. He wants it connected to the computer to monitor and record. How would I go about doing this. He wants the software to be easy to use with it as viewing 4 videos (split on one tv but for pc) for watching live and record same time. Thanks in advance

There are a number of solutions. It largely depends on how many cameras he wants. The more cameras the more sophisticated system he will need. If it is one or two there is a number of systems out there relatively cheap.
The expensive part is usually the camera. A good quality camera is going to cost a bit. Cameras are usually what people cheap out on and then regret. With out a good camera the whole system is rather useless.
You install the camera and run the cables back to the camera server. Load the software, and it really isn't too difficult. What cables and power supplies you will need depends on what kind of camera you use. In some cases a UTP network cable is all you need. The server is built into the camera and given an IP address and the software is told to receive it's data from that address.
