I have my own laptop and I have the Admin account. My bro's a computer wizzy and I let him set our wireless network. I want my own privacy and set up a password for my account, however I catch him in my Admin space all the time... Is there some kind of trick he could be using to get into my Admin space, because I've changed my password in the past. please let me know if there's something he might be doing to get into my admin space cuz I want him out!
Somebody help me with security of accounts in windows xp please.?antivirus programs
Try going to control panel, and pulling up the "user accounts" file. Here you'll find all the current account types on your machine. It could be there's more than oune account set up with administrator privaleges. If there are, you may B able to alter the other admin account and downgrade it to a "limited access" guest account.
If there IS another admin and it's password protected, you may not be able to get into it, or alter it. Having never been set up w/multiple admins, I could'nt say for SURE. If so, I'd just ask yer bro for the password and then alter the account to a limited one.
If this don't work, you may check into the "sharing" status of your computer's files. From the C: drive, down to individual files, you can right clck, on "properties" There, click on the "sharing" tab. In the top half of this box, you'll see "local sharing and security" put a check mark in the "make this folder private" box, hit apply and "ok." This SHOULD do the trick.
